Melissani lake, that takes its name from the sea nymph Melisanthi, has also been established as a unique wedding venue over the last few years.
According to the myth, nymth Melisanthi was in love with the god Pan and because of his rejection, she suicide in that lake. In the middle of the lake there is a small island where there was found devotionals of god Pan, certifying the use of the cave as a place of worship in ancient times.
